These two boys humored their mother and agreed to a session with me.  She lives in Indiana and wanted pictures of her boys.  Lucky for her the boys have photographer connections. I was a little nervous about this session since grown boys are not normally what I schedule, but we had so much fun.

Orneriness oozes from this boy.

And this boy…..is now in my family! <3Baker_0034

The mosquitos were so big they literally could have carried us away.

A fun evening with two boys that made me laugh.

The friendship that Trudy and I have started out different than most friendships.  Trudy and I worked at the same company. She worked in the Fargo, ND office while I work at the Colby, KS office.  Do you remember when it was “fun” to fill out those email questionnaires then chain mail send them to everyone on your list?  Well that’s actually how we became friends.  One of the questions was what are your hobbies. I wrote IMCA dirt track racing and Trudy being a dirt track fan too emailed me to ask about racing in KS.   That was 10 years ago!

Her and her now husband, Nate tried to come down for my wedding, but a snow stormed kept them in North Dakota. Then a year later her and Nate got married so my sister and I traveled to ND to attend. It was the most fun I’ve ever had at a wedding.  You never know how you will mesh with a person you’ve only talked to on email/facebook but let me tell you Trudy, Nate, April and I got along so great!  It was like we’d been friends forever.

The Rust’s are huge North Dakota State University fans. They travel all over to follow their team. Who wouldn’t travel with a team that is back to back to back national champions? This past Labor Day weekend NDSU came down to Manhattan to play the K-State Wildcats.  Me being a Jayhawks fan won’t remind KSU fans how that game turned out, but I had smile on my face.  Afterwards they Rust’s spend the weekend with us at the lake where I was able to take their family pictures.

Goooo Bison!

Cracks me up every time I see this one!Rust_0235

This was one of the best weekends at the lake I had in a very long time.  Good friends, family and food….doesn’t get much better than that! Here’s our whole gang having a great time.

I was fortunate enough to photograph this wonderful family.  When I was first presented with the task of taking family pictures for 30+ people I was a little nervous, but they are so much fun.  They put me at ease as soon as I walked in the door.

Poor Carolyn had a house full of boys. And ornery boys for that matter!

The whole clan.

We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day either.  Perfect for outdoor pictures on the family farm.

The Cox family visited once again for newborn pictures of their new addition, Miss Paige.

She didn’t close her eyes once during the session.  Paige refused to sleep and decided that keeping her eyes on me was much more exciting than a little nap.

But that was okay because Big Sister Ali wanted me to take her picture too.

Which made for some outtakes.

Ali and her mama.

Daddy and his girls.

The new family of four.

The Roth Family

I may be biased, but the Roth family is awesome.  They are my cousins from the Dallas area.  My family had gathered in Salina, KS for a birthday celebration so we decided to do family pictures.

Nineteen years ago I helped these two celebrate their wedding by wearing a dark green bridesmaid dress.  My how the time has flown. IMG_1502_0299

These two are just so cute! Plus they are so fun to be around. The husband and I were on vacation in Dallas back in February and we spent a lot of time with them.  Samantha even had a photo shoot party with her girlfriends. It was a blast.

Unfortunantly we don’t get to spend a lot of time  together, but we always have a great time when we do. I was so honored they allowed me to take their pictures.

I always like to end the session on a fun note and the kids  were so over their parents lovey-dovey behavior. IMG_1656_0453

The Wright’s

To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other’s hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time.  ~Clara Ortega

The ages that the Wright siblings are at now I’m sure they find each other the most annoying people on this earth. But give it a few years and they’ll find this amazing bond that is between them.  Nothing like having a sibling. Even when they drive you crazy. Or when you push them off the bed and they break open their lip and you tell them if they cry mom will spank both of our butts (right April).  Just saying, not that ever happened! :) One day they will appreciate this amazing bond that being siblings creates!

The Augustine’s

I went to high school with Megan and Melissa. I was a Senior when they were Freshmen and they always seemed like nice girls when we played basketball together. I’d lost touch with the girls so when Megan messaged me that they wanted family pictures I was so excited.  As with all my sessions we do more talking than picture taking, but I enjoy reconnecting with people.  I have to say their dad is so ornery!!!  And him and Donna have been married for 29 years!!!

Thank you Augustine family for an enjoyable evening!   blog template 8
