Since Carrie Towns Photography has only been up and running 8 months now I need not only the support from my family but help as well. I can easily do a session by myself, but to have another pair of eyes helping me pose, fix hair, adjust clothing helps so much. I can focus on getting my camera ready for a shot while my helpers get the subjects ready as well. Right now my go to helper is my sister, April.
I had a maternity session a few weeks ago and she came to my house to help me get everything ready. I wanted to take some test shots so she pretended to be pregnant by putting a blanket under her shirt. Which had us cracking up with all kinds of jokes. Of course I deleted those images off my camera before I started the session.
Do you think she might be ornery?
I always feel bad because for payment she usually only gets a thank you and her lunch/supper paid for.
When she helps it’s always a good time because while I’m getting things ready she can talk to the clients or vice versa. I always try to get my clients to laugh and have a good time so it shows in their pictures. With both April and I we can usually get natural smiles out of the clients.
In the shot below we had the blinds closed behind the backdrop but some sun was creeping in just a little. April stood behind the backdrop and held up my white board so the light wouldn’t come through. If she hadn’t been there I would have had to figure something out which would have taken time away from my clients.
April I just want to let you know I appreciate all the help you’ve given me. Without you and the rest of the family I wouldn’t be able to do this thing I love.
